Looking Back and Moving Forward: Interior Design Trends in Chicago for 2026

As 2026 starts a new year, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the interior design trends and experiences that shaped the Chicagoland area this past year. From exciting projects to valuable lessons learned, this past year has been full of growth and inspiration. Looking ahead, I’m eager to embrace new opportunities and continue helping clients create beautiful, functional homes that evolve with their lifestyles.

Highlights of the Past Year in Chicago Interior Design

One of the standout moments this year was diving deep into a second renovation at my Park Ridge Gem project. It’s such a joy to work with clients as they grow and evolve in their homes. This project included adding cabinetry with a second island to their existing kitchen footprint, as well as refreshing the den and primary bedroom with new window treatments, artwork, lighting, and furniture. Each project brings new excitement and creative possibilities.

Challenges Faced in 2025

Early in my career, I said yes to every project that came my way. However, in 2025, I focused my expertise on kitchen and bath renovations and new builds. I studied these areas in great depth, which allowed me to develop a strong knowledge base. This specialization not only made my business more enjoyable but also gave clients confidence in hiring a dedicated kitchen and bath design professional. It was rewarding to excel in what I’m truly passionate about.

Professional Goals and Trends to Watch in 2026

Looking forward, the focus will be on continuing to refine and expand my expertise in kitchen and bath design while embracing emerging trends in sustainable materials, smart home technology, and personalized spaces. Chicago homeowners are increasingly interested in designs that balance style with functionality, and I plan to help clients achieve that balance with thoughtful, innovative solutions.

Client Collaboration: What to Expect Moving Forward

Collaboration remains at the heart of every successful project. In 2026, I aim to deepen client relationships by listening closely to their evolving needs and priorities. Whether it’s a renovation or a new build, the goal is to create spaces that truly reflect each client’s lifestyle and aspirations, making their homes both beautiful and practical.

Key Takeaways: Reflecting on 2025 and Preparing for 2026

2025 was a year of growth, focus, and rewarding specialization. By honing in on kitchen and bath renovations and new builds, I was able to provide clients with expert guidance and deliver exceptional results. As we move into 2026, the commitment to personalized, functional design remains strong, with an eye toward innovation and sustainability in the Chicagoland area.
